The kids told me not to worry about the temperature, but I still brought a small portable heating system to keep me sizzling in the stands.
All three of our kids play hockey for the school team! The school team is in a part where a lot of people invest and the kids hockey program. They have an indoor arena where all of the games are played. There are only a couple of schools in this district that have indoor rinks. The rest are one hundred percent outdoors. The kids were getting ready to play an outdoor team for the first time in a while and I went to track them practice… It was a Regional Championship game and an occasion to advance to the state finals. I wanted to watch the kids practice every day so I would be able to provide them some helpful hints on game day. I actually love to be a hands-on parent when it comes to athletic hobbies activities with our children. It was frosty inside the indoor rink because they turned the temperature down by 10 degrees to help mimic an outdoor scenario. I was ice cold in the stands and our hands and feet were starting to get numb. The temperature was seriously frosty and I started to worry about the kids on game day. The kids told me not to worry about the temperature, but I still brought a small portable heating system to keep me sizzling in the stands. I have a small battery operated heating unit that creates enough warmth for a single person. I used a blanket to create a small tent, and our hands and legs stayed plenty sizzling enough. I stayed sizzling and toasty thanks to the heater, but I guess the frosty air actually affected all of the kids. They lost the game badly by a score of 7-2.
