Remembering my childhood lake house air conditioner.

My brother plus I would physically fight each other to get in front of the air conditioner that sat in 1 of the bedroom windows during those long languid Summer afternoons, plus the people I was with and I would press our faces super close to the vents to believe the ice cold air streaming through.

Growing up in such an aged house without a central air conditioner or heating created a world of constant discomfort throughout the seasons, but living through the Summer months with only a single window unit air conditioner, though, was no doubt the worst. My brother plus I would physically fight each other to get in front of the air conditioner that sat in 1 of the bedroom windows during those long languid Summer afternoons, plus the people I was with and I would press our faces super close to the vents to believe the ice cold air streaming through. While the afternoons would be barely tolerable, the nights were incredibly uncomfortable because the people I was with and I relied on that lone wall unit to provide enough cold air to go throughout our small home. My parents bedroom was closest to the air conditioner, so they got the bulk of the refreshing cold air that was cranked out by the wall unit during the night, due to that, my brother plus I would creep into their room in the middle of the night plus sleep on the floor so that the people I was with and I could also enjoy the appealingly cool air. Eventually my parents got sick of tripping over us at night plus decided to invest to add another window air conditioner to our home, and by this time the newer plus higher quality air conditioner was much nicer plus more efficient, so after it was installed on my brother’s plus my side of the house that the people I was with and I could believe a steady stream of cool air all day plus night! This goes to show that even if you do not have a centrally installed HVAC system, you can still achieve a nice level of comfortable air flow in your lake house with window AC units.
